Job Overview

CDL Human Resource is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic ICT Trainee to join its ICT team and gain practical experience in technology support, networking, systems administration and software development. The role provides an opportunity for a graduate to develop technical skills while supporting the organization's day-to-day ICT operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with the ICT Manager and team to troubleshoot technical issues, maintain ICT infrastructure, support users and participate in technology projects and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The ICT Trainee will provide first-level technical support to staff, assisting with hardware, software and connectivity issues. The role will involve troubleshooting computers, printers, mobile devices and other ICT equipment, as well as assisting with software installation, configuration and maintenance.

The trainee will also support user account setup, access management and basic systems administration while escalating complex technical issues when necessary.

In networking and infrastructure, the trainee will assist with monitoring and maintaining network equipment such as routers, switches and access points. They will support LAN, Wi-Fi and internet connectivity troubleshooting while applying basic concepts such as IP addressing, DNS and DHCP.

The role will also provide exposure to software development and systems support. The trainee may assist with basic programming, scripting, database and web development tasks, system testing, bug identification, documentation and simple process automation.

Additional duties will include assisting with system updates, backups, ICT asset management, user access records, cybersecurity awareness and basic security controls. The trainee will maintain technical records and assist in preparing ICT reports, user guides and other documentation.

The position is designed to encourage continuous learning through training, knowledge-sharing sessions, technology research and participation in ICT projects assigned by the ICT Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, ICT, Software Engineering or a related field.

Candidates should have basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking and IT troubleshooting. An understanding of programming concepts and basic software development skills is required, while knowledge of languages such as Python, JavaScript, PHP, Java or C# will be an added advantage.

Applicants should understand basic networking concepts including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, routers and switches. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and common business applications is also expected.

Knowledge of databases, web technologies or scripting will be beneficial. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong interest in technology, willingness to learn, analytical and problem-solving abilities, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
