Job Description

BQI Tech is seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Cybersecurity Consultant to help strengthen the organisation's cybersecurity posture. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and guidance in identifying security risks, improving information security controls and supporting the development of secure technology environments.

The Cybersecurity Consultant will work closely with technical and business teams to understand existing systems, identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate measures to protect applications, infrastructure, networks and organisational data. The role requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and the ability to translate security requirements into practical solutions.

The successful candidate will contribute to assessing cybersecurity risks across IT environments and identifying areas that may expose systems or information to threats. This may include reviewing existing security controls, analysing potential vulnerabilities and recommending improvements that strengthen the organisation's overall security posture.

The consultant will also support the implementation of security best practices across technology projects and enterprise systems. This will require collaboration with software development, infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure that security considerations are incorporated into system design, development, deployment and ongoing operations.

A key aspect of the role will be providing cybersecurity guidance for software applications and IT solutions. The successful candidate will help identify security weaknesses and recommend appropriate controls to reduce risks. They may also support security reviews and assessments to ensure that systems meet relevant security requirements.

The role will require strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as cybersecurity consultants must be able to investigate security concerns, assess their potential impact and recommend practical solutions. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently while also collaborating with technical teams and other stakeholders.

A proactive approach to identifying security risks and improving organisational security is important.

Experience with enterprise IT environments, software development, cloud technologies, networks, DevOps or government technology systems would be advantageous. Familiarity with security frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, security monitoring and secure software development practices will also be beneficial.
