KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Medical Case Intern will assist with:

  • Following up daily on invoices from service providers for ongoing and pending medical cases.
  • Uploading invoices and relevant documentation to the M-Files portal for payment processing.
  • Seeking clarification from service providers regarding incorrectly billed invoices.
  • Reviewing and validating invoices, particularly high-value invoices.
  • Identifying unnecessary or non-standard charges and supporting cost-containment activities.
  • Compiling services provided and costs incurred for individual medical assistance cases.
  • Preparing interim pro-forma cost estimates for billing and invoicing.
  • Preparing final cost estimates when medical cases are closed.
  • Supporting timely cost estimates during critical periods such as month-end.
  • Working with the Medical Assistance Team on case-related financial information.
  • Supporting responses to billing and patient-refund queries from assistance partners.
  • Assisting the Payables Team with reconciliation of service-provider statements.
  • Supporting reconciliation of accounts for major hospitals and other service providers.
  • Answering telephone calls in the Control Room professionally.
  • Responding to clients according to AMREF Flying Doctors service standards.
  • Participating in departmental meetings when required.
  • Providing general administrative support, including office-supply requests.
  • Performing other work-related duties assigned by the team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • At least CPA Part I or an equivalent qualification.
