Job Description
Bobu Africa is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to join its team in Nairobi and gain practical experience in finance and accounting operations. This opportunity is suitable for fresh graduates and early-career professionals looking to develop their accounting skills within a professional travel and tourism environment.
The successful intern will work closely with the Finance team and provide support in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling financial information and assisting with routine accounting activities. The position will provide practical exposure to financial procedures and help the intern develop a strong understanding of how finance functions support day-to-day business operations.
A key responsibility will be assisting with the processing and reconciliation of e-TIMS, bank transactions and daily financial records. The intern will help ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded, checked and supported by relevant documentation. Accuracy and attention to detail will be essential when handling financial information and maintaining transaction records.
The Finance Intern will also assist in reviewing invoices and supporting documents to ensure that information is complete and accurate before processing. This may involve checking invoice details, confirming supporting documentation and helping identify discrepancies that require clarification or correction.
The role will provide practical exposure to VAT returns and other statutory financial reporting requirements. The intern will assist the Finance team with preparation and filing activities while gaining an understanding of relevant financial procedures and compliance requirements. This experience will help develop practical knowledge of accounting and statutory reporting in a business environment.
The successful candidate will also support the maintenance and updating of daily transaction journals and other financial records. They will assist with data entry, filing and organisation of accounting documents to ensure that financial information remains accurate, complete and easily accessible when required.
The Finance Intern will provide support to the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This may include assisting with payment tracking, invoice monitoring and maintaining records of outstanding transactions. The intern will work under the guidance of the Finance team to ensure that financial transactions are processed and recorded appropriately.
The position will also provide an opportunity to participate in financial activities such as audits and budgeting. The intern may assist in preparing financial information and supporting documentation required during audit processes. They may also support the Finance team with data collection and other activities related to budgeting and financial planning.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and business information. They should demonstrate integrity, professionalism and a strong willingness to learn. The ability to work carefully with financial records and follow established procedures will be important.
The role also requires good organisational and time-management skills because the intern may be required to handle multiple financial tasks within established deadlines. The candidate should be comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software and should be willing to learn new systems and processes.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field. Candidates with CPA Part I or another relevant accounting qualification will have an added advantage.
Applicants should have 0–1 year of experience in Finance or Accounting, although fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software is required.
The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial procedures. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organisation, communication skills and willingness to learn are essential.
Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality when handling financial information.
