Job Overview

A reputable company is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to provide accounting and financial support across its construction projects, real estate developments, property management operations and corporate activities. The successful candidate will assist with bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, financial documentation, project accounting, collections and financial reporting.

About the Company

The employer is a reputable company operating across construction, real estate development, property management and related business activities. The organization manages financial transactions across multiple projects, properties and business units and requires accurate accounting records to support effective financial management and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Record and post financial transactions accurately and maintain proper accounting records.

Prepare payment vouchers, receipt vouchers, journal vouchers and other financial documents.

Verify transactions and ensure they have the required supporting documents and approvals.

Support construction and project accounting, including tracking project expenditure against approved budgets.

Process and verify invoices from contractors, consultants, suppliers and service providers.

Maintain project expenditure trackers and assist with cost analysis and variance monitoring.

Record rental income and maintain accurate tenant and property accounts.

Prepare rent invoices, statements and payment schedules where required.

Monitor rent collections, outstanding balances and arrears.

Process supplier invoices and maintain accurate accounts payable records.

Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding documentation and discrepancies.

Prepare customer and tenant invoices and accurately record receipts.

Maintain debtors' records and support collection activities.

Perform regular bank, petty cash, supplier, customer and tenant reconciliations.

Investigate and resolve unreconciled items and accounting discrepancies.

Assist with VAT, PAYE, withholding tax and other applicable statutory compliance requirements.

Support internal and external audits by preparing financial schedules and supporting documents.

Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports and cash flow information.

Support budget monitoring and variance analysis.

Maintain organized, confidential and audit-ready financial records.

Follow company financial policies, internal controls and approval procedures.

Report suspected financial irregularities, fraud or unauthorized transactions.

Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Finance Department.

Qualifications and Requirements

Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field.

At least 1 year of relevant accounting or finance experience.

CPA Part 1 or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is an added advantage.

Experience in construction, real estate, property management or project-based businesses is an added advantage.

Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping and reconciliations.

Good understanding of financial records and accounting procedures.

Strong computer and accounting software skills.

Good analytical, organizational and record-keeping abilities.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle financial information professionally.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.
