Job Summary
The Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) is seeking ICT Interns for a six-month internship opportunity. This position provides an excellent opportunity for ICT graduates and students to gain practical workplace experience while contributing to the work of an organization focused on conservation and the protection of the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem.
The internship is designed to help candidates bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical ICT experience. Successful interns will have an opportunity to work in a professional environment, develop their technical and workplace skills, and gain exposure to the use of technology in supporting organizational operations.
The ICT Interns will support day-to-day technology-related activities and work with relevant teams to ensure that ICT resources and systems are used effectively. The opportunity is suitable for candidates who are enthusiastic about technology, willing to learn, and interested in developing a career in information and communication technology.
Key Responsibilities
The ICT Interns will assist with routine ICT support activities and contribute to the smooth operation of technology within the organization. Depending on assigned duties, interns may support users experiencing basic computer, software, connectivity, or other technical challenges.
The interns may assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, printers, networking equipment, and other ICT devices. They will be expected to follow established procedures when handling technical issues and escalate problems that require advanced technical intervention.
The role may also involve supporting staff with commonly used computer applications and helping users understand basic technology processes. Interns may assist with software installations, updates, system configuration, and general maintenance of ICT equipment.
Interns may participate in maintaining ICT records, including equipment inventories, user support records, system documentation, and other relevant ICT information. Accurate documentation will help the organization monitor its technology resources and maintain efficient support processes.
The ICT Interns may also assist with basic network and connectivity support. This could include helping identify connectivity problems, checking equipment, supporting users with network-related issues, and escalating unresolved problems to the appropriate personnel.
Where applicable, interns may gain exposure to data management and information systems. They may assist with organizing digital information, maintaining electronic records, supporting data-related activities, and ensuring that information is handled responsibly.
The interns may also support ICT-related projects and other technology initiatives assigned by their supervisors. They will be expected to complete assigned tasks within agreed timelines and maintain a positive and professional attitude throughout the internship.
ICT Support and Technical Development
The internship provides an opportunity for candidates to strengthen their practical understanding of ICT operations. Interns will be able to apply concepts learned during their academic training to real workplace situations.
Through daily activities, interns may gain exposure to areas such as computer hardware and software, networking, information systems, data management, system maintenance, cybersecurity awareness, technical support, and ICT documentation.
The position will also help interns develop practical troubleshooting skills. Rather than relying solely on theoretical knowledge, candidates will learn how to approach technical problems systematically, identify possible causes, test solutions, and escalate issues appropriately.
Professional Development
In addition to technical skills, the internship will provide an opportunity to develop important workplace competencies. Interns will interact with staff members and work within established organizational procedures, helping them develop communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
Interns will also learn the importance of confidentiality, responsible use of organizational technology, information security, professionalism, and proper handling of organizational information.
The experience gained during the six-month period can strengthen candidates' CVs and provide useful exposure when applying for future opportunities in ICT support, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, data management, software development, and related technology fields.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have a genuine interest in information and communication technology and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn. Candidates should be able to work with others, follow instructions, take responsibility for assigned tasks, and adapt to new systems and technologies.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are important because the intern may interact with employees from different departments. Candidates should also demonstrate attention to detail, reliability, integrity, and professionalism.
Applicants should be proactive and willing to ask questions, learn from experienced colleagues, and contribute positively to the organization's ICT activities.
