Job Overview

Severin Sea Lodge is seeking an experienced Barman / Bar Lady to join its Food and Beverage team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering professional bar service, preparing beverages to high standards, maintaining an organized bar environment and ensuring guests receive a positive hospitality experience.

This is a live-in position involving rotational shifts and leave arrangements. Candidates should have previous experience working in a 4-star or 5-star hotel, luxury lodge or safari camp and possess strong knowledge of beverages and bar service.

Severin Sea Lodge is a hospitality property located at Bamburi Beach along the Indian Ocean. The lodge is known for its traditional African-inspired setting and hospitality services.

The position offers an opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional to work within a high-standard Food and Beverage environment and potentially develop their career within Severin Hotels.

Key Responsibilities

The Barman / Bar Lady will be responsible for:

Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established standards.

Maintaining a clean, organized and well-stocked bar throughout service.

Taking customer orders accurately and handling billing appropriately.

Providing friendly and professional service to hotel and lodge guests.

Supporting restaurant operations when required.

Following beverage recipes and established pouring standards.

Safeguarding bar stock, glassware, equipment and other company property.

Completing end-of-shift closing procedures and required reports.

Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the bar area.

Working closely with the Food and Beverage team to provide consistent guest service.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

At least 2 years of experience working as a bartender.

Previous experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel, luxury lodge or safari camp.

Good knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Good knowledge of bar hygiene and safe handling practices.

Fluency in spoken and written English.

Accuracy when taking orders and handling billing.

Reliability, integrity and attention to service standards.

Ability to work independently and as part of a Food and Beverage team.

Additional Advantage

Experience working in a safari camp or luxury lodge will be an added advantage.

Working Conditions

The position is suitable for candidates who are comfortable with a live-in hospitality environment. The successful applicant should be prepared to work rotational shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, and follow the employer's rotational leave arrangements.
