Job Overview

A reputable organization is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join its Finance Department. The successful candidate will support daily bookkeeping, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, and audit activities.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong attention to detail, good financial management skills, and experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.

About the Role

The Accounts Assistant will support essential financial and accounting operations while helping maintain accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with established financial procedures. The role will also involve supporting budget preparation, financial reporting, and internal and external audit processes.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Process invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable entries.
  • Post daily financial transactions accurately.
  • Record office expenditures in line with approved budget policies.
  • Enter financial data into accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Review departmental requisitions for accuracy and completeness.

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Compile and submit regular financial reports to the Head of Accounts.
  • Verify bank deposits and assist with bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Assist with preparing managerial financial reports.

Budgeting & Audit Support

  • Assist in preparing organizational budgets.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required financial documentation.
  • Work closely with the Head of Accounts and Finance Administrator on financial activities.
  • Ensure financial transactions comply with established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Completed CPA Part 2 or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
