Job Overview
Solidaridad is seeking a technically skilled and proactive IT Junior Specialist to support system administration, network security, data protection, helpdesk operations, and global IT systems.
The successful candidate will help strengthen IT infrastructure and security by managing user access, Google Workspace, backups, disaster recovery, documentation, and service desk activities while coordinating with regional IT teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with hands-on experience in system administration, cybersecurity, helpdesk coordination, and cloud-based business applications.
About the Role
The IT Junior Specialist will support the administration and security of core IT systems across the organization. The role will focus heavily on restructuring Google Workspace, implementing formal user access lifecycle processes, maintaining backup and disaster recovery systems, enforcing IT security standards, and providing day-to-day technical support.
The successful candidate will also coordinate with regional IT staff and provide technical assistance to employees and the ED office.
Key Responsibilities
System & Network Administration
- Support the administration and maintenance of organizational IT systems and networks.
- Restructure Google Workspace across the network.
- Implement standardized Shared Drives and role-based folder architectures.
- Strengthen access controls to reduce data breach and unauthorized access risks.
- Establish and maintain formal user account provisioning and offboarding procedures.
- Ensure immediate access revocation for former employees and consultants.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Implement and monitor daily automated backup routines across global IT environments.
- Support backups for Google Workspace, Salesforce, and Certinia.
- Work with backup solutions such as Spanning or similar platforms.
- Conduct periodic data restoration tests to verify backup integrity.
- Support disaster recovery procedures and ensure critical business data can be restored when required.
IT Security, Risk & Compliance
- Enforce Network Minimum Standard Requirements for IT Security.
- Support the implementation of formal network security policies.
- Identify and address vulnerabilities that could result in unauthorized data access or fraud.
- Implement procedures to strengthen information security and data privacy.
- Support compliance with GDPR and relevant reporting requirements.
- Maintain awareness of emerging IT security risks and recommend appropriate controls.
Documentation Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
- Document IT processes, system configurations, security protocols, and procedures.
- Ensure technical documentation is accessible to relevant IT personnel.
- Support knowledge management and continuity by preventing loss of institutional IT knowledge.
Helpdesk & Technical Support
- Support day-to-day Service Desk tickets and technical requests.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
- Provide technical support to staff from the ED office.
- Coordinate with local and regional IT teams to resolve technical issues.
- Support regional IT staff in providing effective first-line technical support.
- Escalate complex technical issues where necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent practical hands-on IT experience may also be considered.
- 2–3 years of professional experience in IT systems administration, helpdesk coordination, network security, or a related area.
Professional Requirements
- Strong experience administering Google Workspace Admin Console.
- Knowledge of access controls and Shared Drive governance.
- Hands-on exposure to Salesforce and Certinia ecosystems.
- Understanding of GDPR and data privacy requirements.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Experience implementing user provisioning and offboarding procedures.
- Experience with backup tools such as Spanning is an advantage.
- Working proficiency in English.
- Spanish, Portuguese, or French language skills are an added advantage.
