Job Summary
The Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support to its finance function. The successful candidate will assist with financial transactions, accounting records, reconciliations, audits, compliance, and financial reporting while supporting the organization's finance team.
The role offers an opportunity for an accounting professional to contribute to conservation-focused work while gaining experience in financial administration, donor-funded projects, and organizational financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records and organized filing systems.
Process supplier invoices, payment vouchers, and staff reimbursements.
Assist with preparing and processing payments.
Perform bank, cash, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
Accurately record financial transactions in the accounting system.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
Assist with budget monitoring and expenditure tracking.
Prepare statutory payment schedules and support tax and regulatory compliance.
Prepare financial documentation required for internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies, procedures, and donor requirements.
Provide additional finance and administrative support as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
CPA Part II or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
CPA Part III is an added advantage.
At least 2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
Experience in an NGO, conservation organization, or donor-funded project is an added advantage.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage or similar systems.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Good financial analysis, reconciliation, record-keeping, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, integrity, and ability to meet deadlines.
