Job Overview

Job Purpose
The Junior Accountant will provide day-to-day accounting support and contribute to the effective management of the organization's financial records.
The position involves processing invoices, payments and receipts, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, performing different types of reconciliations and assisting with financial reporting.
The successful candidate will also help identify accounting discrepancies, track outstanding balances and support compliance with applicable tax requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting and financial records.
Process invoices, payments, receipts and other financial transactions.
Assist with accounts payable activities and ensure supplier transactions are properly recorded.
Support accounts receivable processes and monitor outstanding customer balances.
Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accounting records agree with bank statements.
Assist with supplier and customer account reconciliations.
Support inventory-related reconciliations and accounting activities where required.
Identify discrepancies, errors and unusual variances in financial records.
Follow up on outstanding balances and support the resolution of accounting differences.
Assist with the preparation of periodic financial reports.
Support month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
Assist the finance team during internal and external audit processes.
Support statutory compliance activities, including VAT and withholding tax requirements.
Maintain organized accounting documentation and supporting financial records.
Use Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems to record, analyze and manage financial information.
Ensure accounting information is handled with confidentiality and accuracy.
Support other finance and accounting activities assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field from a recognized institution.
CPA Part II completed or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
At least 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience.
Practical understanding of basic accounting principles and financial record keeping.
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Knowledge of bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
Understanding of VAT and withholding tax processes.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Experience using accounting software or ERP systems.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively as part of a finance team.
Ability to identify accounting errors and assist in resolving discrepancies.
Experience in retail, inventory management or multi-branch operations will be an added advantage.
