Job Overview

Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty hospital in Laikipia County, is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Quality Assurance Lead to provide oversight of the hospital's Quality Management System across clinical and support services.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the successful candidate will champion quality improvement initiatives, monitor compliance with healthcare standards, coordinate internal audits, support accreditation efforts, and promote a strong culture of patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for implementing and continuously improving the hospital-wide Quality Management System. The role involves monitoring quality indicators, coordinating internal audits, supporting risk management and incident reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with departmental leaders and multidisciplinary teams to identify improvement opportunities, implement corrective actions, and strengthen the hospital's overall quality and patient safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the hospital-wide Quality Management System.
  • Develop and support quality improvement initiatives across clinical and support departments.
  • Ensure quality management processes are effectively implemented and monitored.
  • Promote consistent application of quality standards across the organization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve clinical and operational processes.

Patient Safety & Quality Improvement

  • Champion patient safety initiatives throughout the hospital.
  • Coordinate quality improvement projects and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Support departments in identifying and addressing quality and patient safety gaps.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Audits, Compliance & Accreditation

  • Coordinate internal quality audits across hospital departments.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate quality and audit documentation.
  • Support hospital accreditation and certification initiatives.
  • Follow up on audit findings and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.

Quality Performance & Risk Management

  • Monitor key quality performance indicators and trends.
  • Prepare quality reports and provide actionable insights to hospital leadership.
  • Support risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities.
  • Coordinate incident reporting and investigation processes.
  • Monitor corrective action and preventive action processes.
  • Use quality data to support evidence-based decision-making and organizational improvement.

Staff Engagement & Continuous Learning

  • Promote quality and patient safety awareness among hospital staff.
  • Support staff training on quality management systems, patient safety, and relevant standards.
  • Facilitate quality improvement meetings and initiatives.
  • Work closely with departmental leads to strengthen clinical and operational excellence.
  • Encourage multidisciplinary collaboration and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in healthcare quality management.
  • Proven experience leading quality improvement initiatives within a hospital setting.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Quality Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is an added advantage.

Professional Requirements

  • Professional certification in healthcare quality, quality management, or ISO auditing is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare quality management systems.
  • Experience with healthcare regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Practical experience coordinating internal quality audits and improvement initiatives.
