Job Purpose

The Junior Software Engineer will support the engineering team in developing and maintaining Pebuu's software products while assisting with infrastructure, deployments, databases, integrations and technical support.

Key Responsibilities

The Junior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, testing and improving Pebuu's software products. This includes contributing to new functionality as well as maintaining existing applications.

The successful candidate will investigate, troubleshoot and resolve software bugs. This will require analysing problems, identifying their causes, implementing appropriate fixes and testing solutions before deployment.

The role will also involve providing first-line technical support to customers through email and the company's support platform. Customer support is expected to account for approximately 25% of the role, making strong written communication and problem-solving skills important.

The engineer will assist with software deployments and production releases, helping ensure that new application versions and improvements are released correctly and with minimal disruption.

Another responsibility will be monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting Linux servers and cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate should be comfortable working within Linux environments and using SSH to access and manage systems.

The role will involve writing and optimising SQL queries and managing application databases. Candidates will therefore need a good understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL.

The Junior Software Engineer will also build and maintain REST APIs and system integrations, contributing to communication between different software components and services.
