Scholarship Overview

The University of Embu is inviting applications for funded and non-funded Master's scholarship opportunities for the 2026/2027 academic year. The opportunities are designed for qualified Kenyan graduates seeking to pursue postgraduate studies in selected engineering and ICT programmes.

Successful applicants for the funded programmes will receive support towards tuition, research/project costs, and assessment costs for the prescribed period of study, subject to the applicable HEST II Project provisions.

Selected successful applicants will also be engaged as Graduate Assistants and may participate in supervised teaching, laboratory or field practicals, assessment support, student mentorship, and research activities.

Available Master's Programmes

1. Funded MSc in Civil Engineering – Structural Engineering

Location: Embu

Category: Engineering / Technical

Funding: Funded

The scholarship covers:

Tuition fees.

Research and project costs.

Assessment costs for the prescribed duration of study.

Graduate Assistant engagement subject to applicable terms.

Successful candidates are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress and complete the programme within the prescribed duration.

2. Funded MSc in Civil Engineering – Water & Environmental Engineering

Location: Nairobi

The scholarship provides support towards:

Successful applicants will undertake supervised Graduate Assistant duties and are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the programme.

3. Funded MSc in Civil Engineering – Transportation Engineering

The scholarship covers approved tuition, research/project, and assessment costs for the prescribed study period.

Successful applicants will also be engaged as Graduate Assistants and may support tutorials, practicals, assessments, mentorship, and research activities.

4. Funded MSc in ICT – Artificial Intelligence Application

Applicants for this programme must have evidence of Artificial Intelligence application.

The scholarship covers:

Tuition fees.

Research/project costs.

Successful candidates will also undertake supervised Graduate Assistant duties and are expected to progress to PhD studies under the scholarship programme after successfully completing the Master's programme.

5. Non-Funded MSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Successful applicants will be engaged as Graduate Assistants and may undertake supervised duties in:

Tutorials.

Laboratory or field practicals.

6. Non-Funded MSc in Mechanical Engineering

Successful applicants will undertake Graduate Assistant duties while pursuing their Master's programme. They will be expected to complete their studies within the prescribed duration and maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants for the relevant Master's programmes should meet the following requirements:

Must be a Kenyan citizen.

Must be 30 years of age or below.

Must hold a Bachelor's Degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in a relevant field.

Must meet the admission requirements for the relevant Master's programme.

Must have professional registration or eligibility where applicable.

Applicants for the funded MSc ICT programme must provide evidence of Artificial Intelligence application.
