The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day finance operations, maintain accurate financial records, support bookkeeping functions, and ensure compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements.

Position Summary

The Mid-Level Finance Officer will manage accounting records, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance, budgeting support, and financial controls. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries and journals.
  • Perform daily bookkeeping activities and record financial transactions accurately.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts, supplier accounts, and other financial records.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents and records.

Finance Operations Management

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor customer collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Prepare payment schedules and support cash flow management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal finance procedures and approval processes.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare regular financial reports, expense reports, and account summaries.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements.
  • Provide accurate financial information to support business decision-making.
  • Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and areas requiring attention.

Tax, Compliance & Controls

  • Support compliance with Kenyan tax regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare documentation required for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain strong financial controls to ensure accountability and minimize errors.
  • Ensure adherence to company finance policies and procedures.

Business & Team Support

  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve finance-related issues.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Provide financial guidance on expense management and financial procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping.
  • Experience managing day-to-day finance operations in a growing organization.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and financial reporting.
  • Experience using accounting software and ERP systems is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements is preferred.
