Position Summary

The Teacher of English & English Literature will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess student progress, maintain discipline, support co-curricular activities, and work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to promote student success.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Teach English Language and English Literature in accordance with the approved curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, and schemes of work.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Set clear learning objectives based on students' prior achievement.
• Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning.
• Integrate formative and summative assessments into lesson planning.
• Maintain accurate academic records and monitor student performance.

Student Development

• Support the academic, moral, and personal development of students.
• Maintain discipline and uphold the school's behaviour policies.
• Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning.
• Monitor attendance and promptly report student absences.
• Inspire, challenge, and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

School Administration & Collaboration

• Work closely with teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and school management.
• Participate in curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.
• Attend staff meetings, seminars, training sessions, and co-curricular activities.
• Supervise students during assigned duties and school activities.
• Lead and support classroom support staff where applicable.
• Implement school policies and directives issued by the Principal and senior management.
• Perform other duties assigned by the school's leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education specializing in English and Literature from a recognized university.
• Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a recognized school.
• Strong knowledge of current educational practices and curriculum delivery.
• Excellent classroom management and instructional skills.
• Deep understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
