Tana is seeking an experienced Senior Backend .NET Developer to take ownership of the backend development of a commercial real estate software platform.

The platform helps companies manage property leases, documents, important dates, tasks and lease accounting compliance. The successful candidate will serve as the senior .NET technical expert within the team, making sound technical decisions, working independently and taking responsibility for the quality and delivery of software features.

The primary focus will be backend development using C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core, with occasional frontend development tasks using React and TypeScript to support feature delivery.

Job Purpose

The Senior Backend .NET Developer will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining reliable backend services that power Tana's commercial real estate software platform.

The role involves building APIs, managing database integrations, implementing security measures, deploying applications and ensuring that software features meet technical and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

1. Design, develop and maintain backend services using C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core.

2. Build and maintain GraphQL APIs consumed by the frontend application.

3. Design database schemas and data-access solutions for SQL and NoSQL databases, including Azure SQL and Cosmos DB.

4. Integrate applications with Azure services for storage, identity management, authentication, functions and search.

5. Implement authentication, authorisation and security best practices across APIs, including OAuth2, JWT and role-based access control.

6. Take ownership of software features from initial scoping with the architect through implementation, unit testing, code reviews and deployment.

7. Deploy applications through Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

8. Maintain clean, well-structured and maintainable code in accordance with established architectural patterns.

9. Apply software architecture principles such as Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS).

10. Implement logging and monitoring systems to support the identification and resolution of production issues.

11. Support feature delivery by undertaking occasional frontend development tasks using React and TypeScript.

12. Work independently while taking responsibility for technical decisions and the successful delivery of assigned features.

13. Identify technical challenges, raise concerns proactively and recommend improvements to existing systems.

14. Learn and work with unfamiliar tools, services and technologies whenever required.

Qualifications and Requirements

Interested applicants should meet the following requirements:

- At least 5 years of hands-on backend development experience using C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core.

- Practical experience developing and maintaining GraphQL APIs. Experience with Hot Chocolate is useful, although experience with another GraphQL framework is acceptable.

- Strong SQL and NoSQL database skills, including database schema design and querying.

- Experience with databases such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB or MongoDB.

- Experience using an ORM or data-access framework such as Entity Framework Core.

- Working knowledge of Azure services used in .NET applications.

- Familiarity with Azure App Service, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, Key Vault and Entra ID.

- Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

- Experience deploying applications through Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar pipelines.

- Knowledge of secure API development, including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT and role-based access control.

- Experience writing unit tests using tools such as NUnit or xUnit.

- Familiarity with common .NET architecture patterns, including Clean Architecture, DDD, CQRS and MediatR.

- Ability to work independently as the senior technical expert responsible for backend development.

- A proactive approach to identifying problems and recommending technical improvements.

- Ability to learn new tools and work across different parts of the technology stack.

Additional / Advantageous Skills

The following skills and experience will be an added advantage:

- Foundational frontend development experience using React and TypeScript.

- Familiarity with .NET libraries such as FluentValidation, AutoMapper and NLog.

- Experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as Application Insights and OpenTelemetry.
