Job Summary

Optimum Hospital is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring the hospital's long-term financial sustainability, profitability, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will oversee financial planning, governance, budgeting, revenue optimization, treasury management, and compliance while serving as the principal financial advisor to the CEO and Executive Management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

Develop and implement the hospital's financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives.

Advise the CEO and Executive Management on financial implications of strategic initiatives.

Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial planning.

Develop financial models for new investments and business expansion.

Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions.

Promote financial accountability across departments.

Drive profitability while maintaining quality healthcare services.

Financial Planning & Reporting

Oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Develop executive financial dashboards and performance indicators.

Monitor departmental financial performance.

Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Revenue Cycle Management

Develop strategies to maximize revenue and minimize revenue leakage.

Oversee billing, insurance claims, debt collection, and accounts receivable.

Negotiate financial arrangements with insurers and corporate clients.

Improve collections and cash flow.

Monitor pricing structures and evaluate service profitability.

Financial Governance & Risk Management

Develop and review financial policies and internal controls.

Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax laws, and statutory requirements.

Lead financial risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Coordinate internal and external audits.

Strengthen fraud prevention and asset protection measures.

Treasury & Resource Management

Develop cash flow management strategies.

Oversee treasury operations, banking relationships, and investments.

Evaluate capital expenditure proposals.

Improve working capital performance.

Support fundraising and strategic financing initiatives.

Financial Analytics & Digital Transformation

Champion automation and digital transformation of finance systems.

Develop financial analytics and business intelligence reports.

Benchmark financial performance against industry standards.

Identify cost optimization opportunities.

Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the finance function.

Requirements

Academic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications

CPA-K or ACCA qualification.

Valid ICPAK membership.

Certification in Financial Management, Corporate Finance, Risk Management, or Healthcare Finance is an added advantage.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years' progressive finance experience, including 5 years in senior leadership.

Experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, and financial reporting.

Proven experience in healthcare finance or another highly regulated industry.

Experience advising executive leadership and Boards.

Strong background in financial transformation and process improvement.
