Job Overview

The United Nations is seeking a motivated Web Developer to join its team in Nairobi, Kenya. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or students pursuing careers in web development, computer science, information technology, software engineering, or related fields.

The successful candidate will support the development and maintenance of the Nairobi Convention website, web platforms, digital dashboards, and online knowledge-sharing systems while contributing to innovative digital solutions.

Position Summary

The Web Developer will assist in developing, maintaining, and updating websites, dashboards, and digital reporting platforms. The role involves integrating project data, managing website content, supporting event web pages, and enhancing the organization's digital presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, maintenance, and updating of the Nairobi Convention website and related web platforms.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining visualization dashboards for Nairobi Convention projects.
  • Collect, organize, and prepare project information, outputs, and datasets for integration into dashboards.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources into web-based reporting tools and digital platforms.
  • Develop and maintain metadata and structured information for web maps and project information systems.
  • Support data analysis and interpretation using digital reporting and dashboard tools.
  • Assist in creating, updating, and publishing COP12 and other event-related web pages.
  • Upload and maintain website content, including project documents, reports, and communication materials.
  • Ensure timely publication of working documents, information documents, and event resources.
  • Support improvements to the Nairobi Convention's online visibility, accessibility, and digital knowledge-sharing systems.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate degree (Master's or higher).
  • Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science, Digital Systems, or a related field.

Applicants should also possess:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Commitment to the ideals and principles of the United Nations Charter.
  • Interest in international development and digital innovation.
