Job Summary
Mini Group is seeking an Assistant Workshop Manager to support workshop operations by overseeing staff management, safety compliance, equipment maintenance, procurement coordination, stock control, quality assurance, customer service, and workshop administration. The successful candidate will ensure workshop activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Operations & Planning
- Support the Workshop Manager in coordinating daily workshop operations aligned with company goals, KPIs, and operational standards.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Train and mentor workshop staff on SOPs, technical procedures, workshop best practices, and performance expectations.
Human Resource Support
- Assist with recruitment, induction, attendance management, leave planning, performance evaluations, disciplinary processes, and staff development in collaboration with HR.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support implementation of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
- Coordinate safety committee meetings, audits, hazard assessments, permits, and ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures.
Workshop Assets & Equipment
- Oversee allocation, servicing, maintenance, repairs, and documentation of workshop tools, equipment, PPE, vehicles, and other assets.
Procurement & Inventory Management
- Support procurement planning and supplier coordination.
- Monitor stock levels and manage inventory documentation, including Goods Received Notes (GRNs), issue notes, stock transfers, and returns.
Administration & Records
- Maintain proper filing systems, document control, records management, stationery supplies, and internal communications.
Workshop Security & Quality Control
- Monitor workshop security, visitor access, key control, spare parts disposal, client asset handling, and quality inspections.
Customer Service
- Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), job cards, repair estimates, insurance documentation, asset inspections, and repair plans.
Housekeeping
- Ensure workshop cleanliness, waste management, PPE maintenance, organized workstations, and safe working conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing a busy automotive workshop.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations, fire safety, and first aid.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in workshop administration, procurement, inventory management, staff supervision, and operational reporting.
- Willingness to work in Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, or any other location within Kenya.
