JOB OVERVIEW
A reputable company is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to oversee the planning, coordination, supervision and technical execution of civil and infrastructure works at Magnate City.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical supervision of construction activities, ensuring that works are delivered according to approved drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities, statutory requirements, quality standards, budgets and project timelines.
The position involves supervising earthworks, roads, drainage, water and sewer infrastructure, foundations, reinforced concrete, structural and masonry works, utilities and other external development works.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Construction and Site Supervision
- Supervise daily civil and infrastructure construction activities at Magnate City.

2. Technical Coordination
- Review civil and structural drawings before construction.

- Review method statements, technical submissions, RFIs, inspection requests and material approvals.
- Ensure drawing revisions are properly communicated and implemented.

3. Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Verify that materials delivered to site meet approved specifications.
- Coordinate relevant construction-material tests.

- Ensure defective or non-conforming work is corrected.

5. Cost, Quantities and Material Control
- Work with the Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager to monitor project costs.
- Verify quantities and measurements of completed civil works.
- Support contractor valuation and certification processes.
- Review variation requests and provide technical justification.
- Monitor material usage and minimise wastage.
- Verify material requirements against drawings, BQs and construction programmes.
- Support procurement through technical specifications and evaluation of proposed materials and suppliers.
6. Contractor and Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate civil contractors and subcontractors.
- Monitor compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to site teams.
- Monitor contractor productivity, workmanship, staffing and equipment.
- Liaise with consultants, authorities, utility providers and other stakeholders.
- Participate in contractor performance assessments.

- Support compilation of technical handover documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university.
- Registration as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or appropriate registration under applicable Kenyan requirements.
- At least 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in civil engineering and construction/site supervision.
- Experience in residential, commercial, mixed-use or infrastructure development projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods.
