Job Overview

North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Senior Clinical Officer to join its academic team in Nairobi. This opportunity is ideal for clinical professionals with extensive experience in specialist clinical practice, curriculum development, and healthcare education.

The successful candidate will provide academic and clinical leadership in the development and delivery of Higher Diploma programmes while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality assurance standards.

Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Officer will lead programme development, coordinate curriculum implementation, supervise students, establish clinical training partnerships, and promote research and evidence-based clinical practice to enhance healthcare training excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Lead the development, accreditation, and implementation of Higher Diploma programmes within the assigned clinical specialty.
  • Coordinate curriculum design, review, and continuous programme improvement.
  • Provide academic and clinical leadership for the assigned programme.
  • Teach, assess, mentor, and supervise Higher Diploma students.
  • Participate in training Clinical Officer students in basic clinical programmes.

Clinical Training & Partnerships

  • Establish and coordinate clinical training placements for students.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare institutions and professional bodies.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement to strengthen programme delivery.
  • Promote collaboration with industry partners to enhance clinical education.

Programme Management

  • Coordinate programme planning, budgeting, reporting, and resource management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the programme.
  • Monitor programme performance and implement quality enhancement measures.

Research & Quality Assurance

  • Promote research, innovation, and evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional and professional quality standards.
  • Support the integration of e-learning and blended learning approaches.
  • Perform other duties related to specialist clinical training and programme development as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Higher Diploma in the relevant clinical specialty from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
  • Valid professional registration and practicing licence.
  • Registration as a trainer with TVETA.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant post-qualification clinical experience, including two (2) years in the specialty area.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in teaching, clinical instruction, or supervision of healthcare trainees.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, programme coordination, accreditation processes, or academic leadership.

Added Advantage

  • Master's degree in Clinical Medicine, Medical Education, Public Health, Health Professions Education, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating e-learning and blended learning programmes.
  • Experience with North Coast Medical Training College teaching and learning methodologies.
