Job Description

CORAT Africa is seeking two professional, customer-focused and reliable Waiters/Waitresses to join its hospitality team in Nairobi. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality food and beverage service to guests while ensuring a welcoming, clean and comfortable dining environment.

The role requires individuals with strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and the ability to deliver excellent customer service in a professional hospitality environment. The successful candidates will interact directly with guests, take food and beverage orders, serve meals and refreshments, respond to customer requests and ensure that guests receive efficient and courteous service throughout their stay or dining experience.

Waiters and Waitresses will be expected to understand the menu and available services so they can confidently respond to guest questions and provide appropriate recommendations when required. They will accurately take orders and communicate them to the kitchen or relevant service teams, ensuring that meals and beverages are prepared and delivered according to guest requirements.

The successful candidates will also be responsible for ensuring that tables and service areas are properly prepared before guests arrive. This includes arranging tables, placing cutlery and service items appropriately, checking that dining areas are clean and presentable, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene will be an important part of the role.

The position will require close attention to detail when handling customer orders. Waiters and Waitresses should confirm orders carefully, communicate any special requests to the kitchen and ensure that the correct meals and beverages are delivered to the appropriate guests. They should also follow up with customers during service to ensure they are satisfied and promptly address any concerns or requests.

The successful candidates may also support the preparation and service of meals during conferences, meetings, accommodation activities and other functions hosted at CORAT Africa's facilities. They should therefore be comfortable working in an environment where service requirements may vary depending on the number of guests and the type of event being hosted.

Customer service will be a key focus of the position. Candidates should demonstrate courtesy, patience and professionalism when interacting with guests, colleagues and other stakeholders. They should be able to handle customer enquiries and complaints appropriately and escalate issues to supervisors or management when necessary.

The role will also involve maintaining cleanliness in assigned service areas and ensuring that used dishes, glasses, cutlery and other service items are cleared promptly. Candidates will be expected to follow established food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures while carrying out their duties.

Waiters and Waitresses will work closely with kitchen staff, supervisors and other hospitality team members to ensure smooth and efficient service. Good teamwork and communication will therefore be essential. Candidates should be able to follow instructions, work independently when required and remain organised during busy service periods.

The successful applicants should be dependable, punctual and willing to work according to the operational needs of the organisation. They should demonstrate a professional appearance and conduct themselves appropriately when representing CORAT Africa.

CORAT Africa is a Pan African Christian organisation based in Nairobi that provides leadership development, management training, consultancy and research services to churches and church-related organisations across Africa. The organisation also operates a Management and Development Centre in Karen, offering accommodation and conference facilities.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates interested in developing or advancing their careers in hospitality, food and beverage service. Successful applicants will gain experience working within a professional hospitality environment while contributing to the quality of services provided to guests and visitors.

Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications together with copies of academic and professional certificates and a detailed CV containing contact details and the telephone and email addresses of referees.
