Job Description

Kenya Red Cross Society is seeking an experienced ERP Web Portal Developer to lead the design, development, enhancement, support and continuous improvement of enterprise web applications, APIs, middleware and integrations supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central On-Premises. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing secure, scalable and maintainable digital solutions that support the organisation's business operations and service delivery.

The position requires a strong software development background, particularly in C#, ASP.NET, .NET, JavaScript, Vue.js and SQL Server, together with practical experience integrating enterprise applications. The developer will work closely with the Business Central AL Developer and other ICT stakeholders to design effective integration solutions and ensure that different systems communicate reliably and securely.

A major responsibility of the role will be developing and maintaining staff, partner, beneficiary and public-facing web portals. The successful candidate will enhance existing applications while ensuring that new functionality is properly designed, tested and integrated without compromising system stability or backward compatibility. The role will involve translating business requirements into practical technical solutions that are secure, maintainable and aligned with organisational needs.

The ERP Web Portal Developer will also be responsible for designing and developing integrations with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This will include developing and consuming Business Central APIs and web services and supporting the development of AL integration codeunits where required. Close collaboration with the AL Developer will be necessary to ensure that integration architecture, data flows and application functionality are properly implemented.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain secure REST APIs and middleware services that facilitate communication between enterprise applications. Knowledge of OAuth2 and OpenID Connect will be important in implementing secure authentication and authorisation mechanisms. The developer will also support system synchronisation services and troubleshoot integration issues affecting business operations.

Application support will form an important part of the position. The developer will investigate and resolve technical incidents, coordinate application releases and contribute to reducing technical debt. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain reliable enterprise applications and respond effectively to technical challenges that may affect users or business processes.

Quality assurance will also be a key responsibility. The developer will participate in code reviews, testing and implementation of software quality controls. They will follow secure software development practices and ensure that solutions are properly tested before deployment. The role will also involve maintaining accurate technical documentation covering application architecture, APIs, deployments, integrations and development procedures.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand operational challenges and provide appropriate technical guidance. They may also be required to train users and provide support during the implementation of new systems and functionality.

The role will involve coordination and supervision of consultants, vendors and interns working on relevant ICT projects. The developer will provide technical direction, review deliverables and help ensure that external and internal development activities meet the required standards.

Security and compliance will remain an important aspect of the position. The successful candidate will apply secure coding practices, support appropriate access controls and contribute to maintaining the security and reliability of enterprise applications and integrations.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline.

Candidates must have the mandatory professional certifications required for the role, including Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate (MB-800) or current equivalent and Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer Associate (MB-820) or current equivalent. Candidates should be able to provide supporting documentation for the certifications.

The ideal candidate should have at least five years of progressively responsible enterprise application development experience, including at least three years working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Business Central. Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC/Core, .NET and SQL Server is required.

Experience with REST APIs, Business Central integrations, AL integration codeunits, enterprise codebases, code reviews, technical documentation and supervision of technical teams or external vendors will be an advantage.

Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6+, Vue.js, Tailwind CSS, responsive design, Entity Framework, Git, Azure DevOps, secure software development, testing and technical documentation will also be valuable.
