Job Description
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Information Management (IM) Intern to support its Information Management Team in Nairobi. The successful candidate will assist with data management, analysis, visualization, reporting and maintenance of information management systems across DRC programmes.
The role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in humanitarian information management while supporting evidence-based decision-making and organizational learning.
The Information Management Intern will assist in maintaining databases, dashboards and information management systems, ensuring that data remains accurate, accessible and properly organized. The intern will also support the development and maintenance of data collection tools, templates and documentation while helping standardize information management processes.
The successful candidate will support data collection, cleaning, validation and organization from different programme sources. They will assist in preparing reports, dashboards, maps and data visualizations and contribute to analysing programme data to generate useful insights.
The role may also involve supporting GIS and spatial data management activities, maintaining digital records and consolidating information from different country offices and technical teams. The intern will help track reporting timelines and support the preparation of periodic information products.
The intern will also provide basic technical support to staff using information management tools and assist with preparing user guides, training materials and standard operating procedures. They may support orientation sessions and basic training on data collection tools and reporting platforms.
Data quality and protection will be important aspects of the position. The successful candidate will assist with identifying duplicate records, missing information and inconsistencies while supporting data quality assurance processes. They will be expected to handle information responsibly and comply with DRC's data protection, confidentiality and information security requirements.
The role will require close collaboration with the Information Management Team, programme staff, MEAL colleagues and other technical teams. The intern will also contribute to documenting lessons learned, best practices and case studies and maintaining knowledge management resources.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have a university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Programming, Information Management, Information Technology or another relevant field. A certificate in programming languages is desirable.
Candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience in information management, database design or administration, particularly within development projects, NGOs or UN-related environments.
Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Microsoft Access, Power BI or other statistical packages is required. Experience with database management, database design and administration is also important.
Knowledge of GIS mapping, spatial analysis, Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO or CommCare will be an advantage. Candidates should also understand data collection processes and demonstrate the ability to write database queries or code.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills are required, together with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication and teamwork skills are also expected.
