Job Overview

Bomet Central Technical and Vocational College is seeking a qualified and experienced Driver II (Bus Driver) to provide safe and reliable transportation services for authorized staff and support the institution's transport operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving institutional vehicles, maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness, keeping accurate transport records, and ensuring compliance with road and transport regulations.

Bomet Central Technical and Vocational College (BCTVC) is a public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution located in Bomet County, Bomet Central Sub-County. The college is registered and licensed under the Ministry of Education, State Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training and provides technical and vocational training to students in various fields.

Key Responsibilities

Transport authorized staff to designated locations safely and on time.

Ensure cleanliness and routine maintenance of assigned institutional vehicles.

Perform minor vehicle repairs and arrange for major repairs when necessary.

Check oil, tyres, brakes, water levels and other essential vehicle components regularly.

Ensure timely servicing and maintenance of institutional vehicles.

Report accidents, incidents and vehicle-related issues to the Transport Officer.

Maintain accurate records of distances travelled and fuel costs incurred.

Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure they are properly equipped with tools and first aid kits.

Ensure all vehicle documentation remains valid and up to date.

Maintain valid driving licences, work tickets, insurance documents and other required safety documentation.

Ensure the safety and security of institutional vehicles both on and off the road.

Observe traffic laws and institutional transport policies.

Carry out other duties related to transport operations as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum K.C.S.E. mean grade of D (Plain).

Valid Class BCE driving licence.

At least 2 years of relevant driving experience.

Computer literacy.

Knowledge of the NTSA Act and relevant traffic regulations.

Knowledge of basic first aid skills.

Basic Mechanic Course is required.

Good knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance procedures.

Ability to maintain accurate vehicle and transport records.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.

Strong knowledge of road safety practices.

High level of discipline, reliability and integrity.
