Job Overview
Verst Carbon Limited is recruiting GIS / Data Officers and short-term field personnel to support a nature-based project in Kenya. The positions are part-time and assignment-based, with engagements expected to commence at different times between September and December 2026.
The successful candidates will support project activities involving geographic information systems, data collection, data management and analysis. Applicants should be comfortable working with data and technology and should be able to contribute effectively to field and project-based assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Support GIS and data-related activities for nature-based projects.
Collect, organize and maintain accurate project data.
Assist with field data collection and verification activities.
Process and manage geographical and project-related datasets.
Support the preparation, cleaning and organization of data for analysis.
Assist with mapping and GIS-related tasks as required.
Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity.
Support data analysis and interpretation to provide useful project insights.
Assist in preparing reports, maps, visualizations and other project outputs.
Work with project teams and field personnel to ensure timely collection and submission of required information.
Conduct quality checks to identify and correct inconsistencies or errors in datasets.
Follow established project procedures and data management standards.
Support other GIS, data management and field activities assigned during the project.
Ensure collected information is properly documented and securely maintained.
Work collaboratively with other consultants and project personnel to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
Relevant background in GIS, data analysis, geography, environmental science, computer science, statistics, remote sensing or a related discipline will be an advantage.
Experience working with GIS or data-related assignments will be an added advantage.
Ability to collect, organize, clean and manage datasets accurately.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with GIS software and mapping tools is desirable.
Ability to work with geographical and spatial data.
Good computer skills and proficiency in relevant data management tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and meet assignment deadlines.
Willingness to participate in field-based activities where required.
Ability to work on short-term, assignment-based engagements.
Candidates should be flexible regarding assignment periods between September and December 2026.
Nature of Engagement
These opportunities are structured as short-term, part-time and assignment-based engagements rather than permanent full-time positions. Selected personnel may be engaged at different stages depending on project requirements.
